Pendant "Taisia and Her Wall Clock"
A one-of-a-kind epoxy resin pendant containing two circular fragments from an original documentary photograph made by Arik Shraga in 2008 as part of Zabereg — a long-term project documenting the slow disappearance of remote villages in Russia’s Arkhangelsk region.
The front side shows Taisia, a resident of Cheshegora village, sitting inside her wooden house. The reverse side features the wall clock that hung behind her.
Taisia was born in 1914 and lived to be 101, passing away in 2015. She spent her entire life doing extraordinarily hard physical work: in the forests during winter and in the fields during summer. She was also a well-known local folklore singer — joyful, humorous, and kind-hearted. In this photograph, she is getting ready to visit her friend who lived next door.
The pendant is handcrafted and resin-sealed by the photographer, transforming a documentary moment into a tactile, wearable artifact of memory.
The photograph was created using a 35 mm film camera.
Accompanying print: Each pendant comes with a postcard-sized print of the original photograph from which the fragments were taken.
Materials: Epoxy resin, stainless-steel bail
One-of-a-kind: No two pendants are identical
