Personal Projects
Since 2006, when I started pursuing a photographer’s career, I’ve been constantly working on personal long-term projects. I like to challenge myself with documenting large scale stories which I feel personally connected to.
Zabereg Project
Disappearing villages of Northern Russia
This project began back in 2008 when I realized that vast isolated area in Arkhangelsk region of Russia is going through a historical period. After several centuries of nurturing unique culture, traditions and lifestyle, nowadays all of it falls apart as people are leaving the villages, looking for jobs and perspectives.
Neglected by the government and social institutions, the region becomes empty, forests are replacing farming fields and villages.

Holocaust Survivors
In 2011, when I was 30, I found out that
my grandfather’s family
perished in Holocaust.
I was shocked by this,
no one in my family dared
to talk about it.
Being a photographer I wanted
to commemorate my ancestors
and perpetuate the faces of those
who survived. My goal was to make
as many portraits of Holocaust survivors
as possible. I’ve made hundreds of them so far,
and in the eyes of each of them I see their Holocaust
experience reflected.
